The Telegram bridge connects WWChat to Telegram through the @wwchat_robot bot: your personal Telegram chats appear in WWChat as regular conversations, and Telegram groups can be linked to WWChat so everyone chats from whichever messenger they prefer.
How It Works
The bridge has two independent modes:
- Personal chats — @wwchat_robot connects to your Telegram account as a business bot. Incoming DMs appear in WWChat and you reply right from the app. Requires Telegram Premium (a Telegram limitation, not ours).
- Groups — the bot is added to a Telegram group and relays messages both ways between the group and its WWChat mirror. No Premium needed.
Bridged conversations are marked with a Telegram badge in your chat list.
Personal Chats
What you need
- The WWChat app (web, iOS, or Android)
- A Telegram account with Telegram Premium — business chatbots are a Premium-only feature on Telegram's side
Your contacts don't need to install anything — they keep messaging you in Telegram as usual.
Connecting
- Open WWChat → Settings → Telegram and tap Connect Telegram.
- A chat with @wwchat_robot opens in Telegram — tap Start.
- In Telegram, go to Settings → Telegram Business → Chatbots and choose @wwchat_robot.
- Return to WWChat — Settings will show "Connected" with your account name.
Note: the bot link from step 2 is valid for 15 minutes. If it expires, just tap Connect Telegram again.
After connecting
- New incoming Telegram DMs appear in WWChat as separate chats — a chat is created automatically with the first message.
- You reply right from WWChat — the other person receives it in Telegram from your name, like a regular message.
- Messages you send from Telegram itself show up in WWChat too, so the history stays complete.
- The contact's name and avatar are pulled from Telegram automatically.
- When you type in WWChat, the other person sees "typing…" in Telegram.
Groups
The group bridge doesn't require Telegram Premium. You only need permission to add the bot to the Telegram group (usually an admin can).
Linking a group
One person does the linking — whoever can add the bot to the group:
- In WWChat, open Settings → Telegram, and in the Groups section tap Link a group. The app shows a command like
/bridge ab12cd34ef56— copy it. - Add @wwchat_robot to your Telegram group.
- Send the copied command in the group.
- The bot confirms the link, and the group's mirror appears in WWChat along with an invite code.
Note: the command is valid for 15 minutes. If it expires, generate a new one.
Inviting WWChat users
- Share the invite code with them. It's shown right after linking and is also available to every mirror participant in the group info.
- They open Settings → Telegram → Join a group, paste the code, and tap Join.
Telegram-side members are added the usual way — directly in the Telegram group.
What the conversation looks like
- Messages from Telegram arrive in WWChat with the sender's name — for example, "Ivan Petrov (ivan)".
- Messages from WWChat are posted to the Telegram group by the bot, signed with the sender's name:
oleg: Hello from WWChat! - The group itself is managed in Telegram — members, permissions, title. WWChat hosts its mirror for messaging.
What's Supported
The bridge relays messages both ways — in personal chats and in groups:
| Message type | Support |
|---|---|
| Text | ✅ |
| Photos | ✅ |
| Voice messages | ✅ — transcoded automatically, play on every platform |
| Video | ✅ |
| Video messages (round videos) | ✅ |
| Files and documents | ✅ |
| GIFs | ✅ |
| Stickers | ✅ — static ones arrive as images, animated ones as previews |
Not synced yet: message edits and deletions, reply quotes, reactions, and polls. A message edited in Telegram keeps its original text in WWChat.
Disconnecting
Personal chats
- In WWChat, open Settings → Telegram and tap Disconnect.
- To fully revoke access, remove the bot in Telegram: Settings → Telegram Business → Chatbots.
Groups
Remove @wwchat_robot from the Telegram group — relaying stops.
FAQ
Do I need Telegram Premium?
Only for personal chats — business chatbots are Premium-only on Telegram. Groups don't need Premium.
I'm connected but can't reply
Allow the bot to reply: in Telegram, open Settings → Telegram Business → Chatbots → @wwchat_robot and enable the reply permission.
Can the other person tell I'm writing from WWChat?
In personal chats — no: replies arrive from your name as regular messages. In groups, messages are posted by the bot signed with your name.
The link or code didn't work
The connect link and the /bridge command are valid for 15 minutes. Generate new ones in Settings.
Do my contacts need to do anything?
No. People you chat with privately and Telegram group members keep using Telegram as usual.
Are bridged chats end-to-end encrypted?
No — WWChat's end-to-end encryption doesn't apply to bridged chats, since the other side lives in Telegram (regular Telegram chats and groups aren't E2E either). Messages travel over encrypted connections.
